About Smartlipo™
Smartlipo TriPlex™ is a variation on traditional liposuction which incorporates laser energy to liquefy and destroy fat cells prior to suctioning. The tiny laser fibre in the cannula delivers energy directly to the fat cells, causing them to rupture. This approach literally melts away fat in troublesome areas such as the abdomen, flanks, arms, buttocks, hips, thighs, and even under the chin. The laser energy also can cause collagen retraction and tissue tightening, which results in firmer skin in the newly sculpted area. Smartlipo TriPlex™ remains the leading laser assisted liposuction technology that has been scientifically proven to reduce recovery, reduce bruising and result in more skin tightening than other liposuction techniques. This technology also has several unique features that greatly improves the safety and accuracy of the laser assisted liposuction process. For small areas, the procedure can be done entirely under local anesthesia or multiple areas can be treated under light sedation or light general anesthesia.
Your Smartlipo™ Procedure
Your procedure willl take place in our fully accredited private surgery facility where our professional and qualified staff will make you comfortable and feel secure. For your comfort our anesthesiologists will administer sedation or light general anesthesia as needed. Dr. Mosher injects the area to be treated with local anesthetic solution, which further aides your comfort as well as assisting with more effective fat removal.
Using tiny incisions, Dr. Mosher inserts a small tube (cannula) containing a laser fibre which emits any combination of three very powerful and unique light wavelengths. Dr. Mosher will select the wavelength combinations that optimally melts the fat, minimizes bruising and stimulates skin retraction. Once the fat is liquified, it is gently suctioned away permanently through using small cannula.
Smartlipo Triplex™ offers Vancouver area patients who undergo this gentler approach to liposuction faster recovery times, less bruising, less pain and improved skin tightening compared to other liposuction techniques.
Recovery and Results
Smartlipo TriPlex™ typically takes 45 to 90 minutes per treatment area. The presence of an anesthesiologist and performing surgery in our fully certified surgery centre greatly improves the safety of your procedure. You will return home after your procedure wearing a compression garment, which will need to be worn for several days to several weeks, depending on the area treated. You will have some swelling and bruising, but rest and limited activity will help these to heal quickly. Dr. Mosher will advise you as to when you can resume regular activities, but most patients find that they can return to driving and light social activities in 1 to 2 days and (non-strenuous) work after 3 to 5 days.
Your results will be visible within a week, but will continue to improve over several months. The skin tightening effect varies from patient to patient and occurs gradually, with fully realized results after approximately 4 to 6 months. Although Smartlipo TriPlex™ can improve shape and skin tone, many of our patients add VelaShape™ treatments for further improvement in the appearance of their shape or for the management of cellulite.
