WHO IS A CANDIDATE?

• If you have areas of hyperpigmentation.
• If you have fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid skin or deep lines around your lips.
• If you have acne scarring.
• If you have numerous small skin growths.

• Laser resurfacing removes layers of skin, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin of more uniform color.

The effect of skin resurfacing using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is similar to the results obtained using chemical peels and dermabrasion. The laser, however, removes skin layers more precisely by vaporization, rather than with chemicals or sanding.

Skin care is initiated prior to surgery to establish good habits as well as to prepare the skin to heal quickly following surgery.

The operation is done as an outpatient procedure in our private surgical facility under light general anesthesia or with sedation and local anesthesia.

• You will be sent home with specific instructions and skin care products. The treated areas are covered with a soothing ointment that speeds healing and prevents crusting.
• Skin surface healing will be complete within 5-7 days at which point light makeup and sunscreen can be used.
• Improvement is apparent within 10 days with final results being achieved in 3-6 months.
• Redness (pink color) of the treated skin can last from 2 weeks to several months.

• Other facial procedures can compliment the results of laser resurfacing.
